Bill, when I google 69 corvette vin numbers, I get this info from several sources:
Convertible Serial numbers ranged from 194689S100001 to 194679S138762
Im confused.
aw
The NCRS 1968-1982 Corvette Spec Guide shows 194679S700001 ..... 194679S738762 for model year 1969.
For 1968 thru 1971 VIN
1: Chevrolet
9: Corvette model
4: V-8
67 or 37: Convertible or Coupe respectively
9: 1969 (1968-71 sixth digit indicates the last digit of the model year)
S: St. Louis assembly
700001 ... 738762: six digit build sequence number (1968: 400001 ... , 1969: 700001 ... , 1970: 400001 ... , 1971: 100001 ... )
The 7 is the car line series code. All '69s had the seven. It is not part of the consecutive unit number per se. If someone was given only 7XXXXX as a partial serial number, the 7 would indicate Corvette while the consecutive unit number would tell you which one.
This character was a four for the '68s and it changed from year to year.
