Have your rotors turned or replaced, bleed your brakes, and stay out of water and off dirt roads, avoid hard braking, if you do these things, then any old pads should do.

That should get the responses you want.

I didn't open this thread because 'Vader Vette' means nothing to me in general.

there's a little ting tang thingy thats supposed to make noise when the brakes are getting worn.

I dont know whats happening to this forum either. A year ago I would have expected to see this in the tech department.

I dont remember Vega's having a noisy brake problem

I use VBP for all my brake stuff
lucky you.. a brake break http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...mers-sale.html

I would suggest napa advantage one pads. I haven't installed them on my vette yet but have a pair on a sc monte carlo and my tahoe. They have been great. Be sure to use the lubricant that is supplied with pads.

I think the problem with the forum is that everyone treats these cars like models rather than a vehicle that was built to be driven. In my mind this originality craze is taking the fun out of these cars. I liked going to car shows and seeing improvements people had made. All I see now are different colors.

Generally, the title bar is used to identify the subject of the thread so people can decide if they want to respond or even read it.

You will get better responses if you post a technical question such as brakes, etc in C3 Tech/Performance.

If I was doing new pads now, I would go ceramic so I don't have to clean as much brake dust.

Yep.

It does for me. I don't read a post unless it seems like I'd be interested in the subjectl The only reason I read this one is because I happened to mouse over it and saw the beginning of your post.

spend the extra dough and buy the Hawk HP S pads.

I thought this thread was going to be about a Star Wars themed custom Corvette.

forum rule # 1 if you want an answer to a mundane question quickly just title your thread "NAKED GIRLS ON MY C3 (LOTS OF PICS)". if you want very few answers and very little traffic name your thread "vader vette".

Some (forum member)(guy asked WHY do you need our help?
Thanks ,that is all I was looking for was just A couple Guys who have corvetts to chime in WHAT brakes they use.

I was wondering while driving home last night how many people on the forum even have A Corvette I think some of the people just like to chat.

That would be me. I was being a smart-*** because I felt you deserved it after replying the way you did to other members. If your thread title had read something like "Time for new brake pads, recommendations?" I think this thread would have stayed on track and provided much more useful information to you. However, you decided to use something else completely unrelated and then complain because of OUR lack of participation and imply it is our fault.
Several times in your thread you have been just short of insulting or combative because you come to this site and ignore the rules of this society and then wonder in some fashion why you are being chastized for your bad behavior. I would hope a 54 yr old would know better.

Yes I do own a vette, actually I own two of them 2001 Z06 and 1981 4spd. Used to own a C4 as well. Do all my own maintenance.
Brakes on Z06 are HP S pads because I autocross that car and drive it quite agressively. Haven't a clue what is on the 81 cause I didn't put them there and they were relatively new looking when I inspected them a few weeks ago. I don't drive the 81 agressively so any organic pad would be more than sufficient.

Did you do an advanced search for the answer to your question? I don't recall reading anywhere if you did that. Did you say what type of driving you do? Nope. Preference to noise, dust and life span of the pads? Nope.

Given the info you provided I would suggest you go to GM and buy a set of stock pads. They fit and work fine for most people.
