cheapest price for side pipes is at carparts.com $178.49 Patriot 3". Just installed a set and the install was easy and the quality is pretty good too. If I like them I will upgrade in a year or two to the Hookers $2100.00 with covers.

I bought some hooker knock offs from ebay about a year ago for $600 and their still holding up fine. They fit well and look almost the same as hookers except for some weld spots. I think they still might be selling them.

Heres the post with the full install with pics and video for these.
Total cost without heatsheilds less than 300$
Stainless heatshields were another 400, but well worth it. Been about 6 months, pipes are great!

I would hold off on buying shields. I thought I would need them, but after buying the sidepipes I learned they really don't get that hot and its easy to remember to not touch your leg to them for very long. Thats just my experience.

I'm still in newbie land, but what are the main reasons for getting side pipes besides they look awesome and make the car louder? (not that those two reasons aren't enough)

you can get a nice set of ceramic coated hooker sidepipes, inserts and headers from jet hot for about $1300 and i think if you call they even have a corvette forum discount.

I do understand that the scars do disappear in about 10 years. On Wife's, Girl friends and kids it take a little longer.

1. Opens up the bottom of the car to make repairs easier.
2. Allows you to remove all the heat shielding under the car for easier cleaning.
3. Less hot pipes under the car means less heat inside the car.
4. Less reverberation inside the car from the exhaust, comparing to flowmaster rear exit.
5. Quieter inside the car.
6. They look awesome.
7. Totally awesome sound.
8. Makes your car get even more looks than before.

The best deal out there in my opinion is jet hot's setup. I think mine came to my door with inserts for just over $1200 with a forum discount. There are cheaper ways to do sidepipes, but most times they dont last near as long.
The jet hot coating is great. I can touch my hand/leg to the sidepipe and its hot but not instant burn hot.

Im at work and this is the only photo that I have that shows the sidepipes. They are not very shiny in this picture but they like stainless pipes. If you search im sure you will find tons of photos of jet hot coating.
