Thank you very much. This engine has been repainted (poorly at that). I just need to know things like the year for parts, etc. So is November 7th, 1980 the assembly date? Does the 2 in the second pic have any relation to 2 Bolt? And I am Assuming the 350 stands for 350 ci. Is there any way to find out what this engine came equiped with? I'm hoping to only need this engine for a couple of years till I can get a replacment, but I am looking for a house so it may have to last longer.
K indicates this engine was assembled in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada. GM built Camaros and Firebirds there. It is not a Corvette engine. 0779 should indicate the month and day the engine was assembled, but in this case it looks like month and year. 800 is the engine identification suffix, but these usually contain alpha characters.
I'm guessing you have an over the counter replacement engine.

I thought so too which is why I wanted to see a photo. From everything I have read, this engine matches the format for an over the counter Targetmaster type engine- which does not use the traditional format for pad stampings.
In this case, the K is the assembly month, not the engine plant. The second two digits represent the day of the month, followed by a four digit code for the part number of the engine (not decipherable by anything I can find). The last digit represents that year that the engine was built.
BTW- Camaros and Firebirds were built in the St. Therese, Quebec plant. The McKinnon Industries (K) plant built engines for a huge variety of US and Canadian built GM vehicles.

No, the 2 is probably the pattern number used at the casting facility. The decision to go four bolt or two was done long after the block was cast. The same casting number was used for both types as well as the various displacements.
Not a clue what's inside your engine, but most of them were low perf/low cost keep-'er-running replacements.
