I agree they were optimistic for October '08' however, I've come to the conclusion that many C3 owners are dilusional about the value of thier cars.. Take a look at Ebay, Craigslist, Hemmings, Cars.com, Collector car trader etc... I've never seen so many completely unbelievable asking prices for C3's.... and everybody has a rare, not many produced, one of a kind etc.... I guess it's a sign of the times.?? Is anybody buying these cars?? jeeze..
I think it was the May issue that had the "new" values for C3s. I have it at home. I chuckled when I read it because it said the value of my car had gone up 3% or some such in the last year.
The CM prices aren't very good, but the existence of the NADA values makes me hesitate to label them "delusional".
These values are somewhere between reality and the NADA value they used to calculate the sales tax when I bought my 81 last year. They can have mine today if they will give me the "average" price.
whoa whoa i know these are delusional (NADA is even worse)... I just wanted a good value for insurance purposes. i guess i'll stick to what i've got now $40k. i know i couldn't SELL my car for 40k but if anything happened to her i would need at least that much to get something in comparable shape. THAT'S what i'm using the number for and i think that in that case they're accurate. more like "what would it cost to replace a show-ready '71" as opposed to "what could i sell it for". or... what would pro-team list it for
That would be looking at the opposite end of the spectrum! If it were up to Nancy Pelosi (I mean Obama, I'm a little confused as to who is actually running this government) all cars older than 7 years would be sent to the crusher and replaced by Prius's....
