By now some of you know I have a 76 that I am putting back together. One thing I have found is the t tops are different. I believe my 76 used t tops with two latches. I have new smoke glass t tops with only one latch. Now I am wondering what's up with the difference? Can anyone shed some light on the differences?
the original t-tops has a rear latch and the newer t-tops have a pin that gets pushed into a guide. you will have to replace the pieces on the car that the old latches hook to and put in the new guides. ask me how i know

I have both, the orig. painted tops, and mirrored single latch tops. I use the mirrored tops and have had no problems. Whenever it comes time to replace the weather stripping in the mirrored tops, you will have to get the weather stripping for a '78 for it to fit. Weather stripping for my '75's painted tops wouldn't work. Found that out quickly, before any damage was done.
68-77 essentially the same - two latches no glass tops
78-82 essentially the same - one latch (part of anti-theft alarm system) optional glass available
78-82 tops can be fitted to earlier cars using the 78-82 hardware per Willcox' post. Purchase the AIM for your year and any 78-82 AIM and take a look at the diffferences in the two installations.
