This question is for my daily driver, but have a similar issue for my vette.
My idiot neighbor messed up their sprinler system so that it sprayed water all over my passenger front fender every night on my daily driver. Water here is medium hard.
I fixed their sprinkler but now I have serious water marks on my black car and can't seem to get them off. I used a couple of different car wash products and even took it to a drive through car wash today. Looks a little better but still bad.
Any suggestions?
I was thinking of taking a clay bar to it or maybe dilute CLR.
You'd need to use something mildly acidic to release the carbon dioxide in the the calcium(water mark). Vinegar would probably work, but I'm not sure how it would affect the finish on your car. Try in on an inconspicious spot maybe. Maybe someone else has tried this before?
NO CLR. Heard bad things. But I have heard positive stuff in regards to vinegar. Claybar is an option also. My neighbor put in new sprinklers. It sprays mine all the time and he doesnt care. Now im waxing constantly to keep the spots off. Had to put up a piece of plastic on my side. Its ugly. Maybe he'll change the head to spray his way and I'll take it down. IF not, its ugly from his side and I surely dont care if he doesnt!
Try here, there is a testimonial in the gallery of water spot removal on a burnt orange 67, it is the 3rd down. http://www.adamspolishes.com/default.aspx
I use his other products and they work quite well.
