You will find a retainer on the visor rod beneath the trim cap. The AIM will show the installation and helps when you have to remove one.

Pop the cap 5/8 diameter off the top and carefully use an icepick to work at the tabs on the retainer. Odds are it'll pop off and die when it does. Good news is you can thread the end of the visor rod and put a self locking nut on it and it'll be all hidden when you put the cover back on.
