Default Is this worth $35k?

The description on this one might look familiar... It was bid up to $15k, so only $20k more could have taken it home.

eBay Link

THIS CAR COULD GO TO BLOOMINGTON TO GET SURVIVOR STATUS WITH A PAINT JOB,NEW TOP, FRONT CARPET ,TUNE UP, BRAKE JOB , NEW HOSES AND BELTS.

That orange stuff on the turn signal and tilt lever is patina

THIS IS A TEXT BOOK NCRS JUDGING SCHOOL ENGINE COMPARTMENT

CAR HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY NCRS NATIONAL LEVEL JUDGE, SAYS THIS IS THE MOST ORIGINAL BIG BLOCK CAR HE HAS EVER SEEN

IF YOU CAN FIND ANOTHER EXACTLY LIKE IT PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT THE CAR. THIS IS THE ONLY ONE LIKE IT I HAVE SEEN IN MY 39 YEARS OF 1970 CORVETTE EXPERIENCE.

OMG! That $15K highest bidder should Thank his lucky stars it didn't go through!

Totally original. With the rust on the turn signals and rot on the pillar post and missing ignition shielding/air cleaner.

Actually when you think of it could you imagine seeing how bad it's undearneath? I wouldn't want to know..

That's patina, had a car pulled off the road in the 70's because of a 1 foot square patina hole in the floor boards

Uh, if he painted it, got a new top and a new carpet... THEN he would qualify for a Survivor (otherwise known as UNRESTORED) status?????

The car is grossly misrepresented in his post. After seeing the pictures I know why he didn't want to provide any.

Yep. I've cleaned up a lot of "patina" like that.

First of all, this car is definitely worth $35K. Has anyone seen the NADA values for '70 LS-5s?

Secondly, I was a little unhappy with the rust on a couple of spots of my steering wheel. Now that I know that is just patina, I feel better.

I thought the textbook said that overflow tank is supposed to be painted black. Pretty much everything else under the hood looked spot on to me.

it's a 70 LS5 m21 highly optioned convertible that is all there. a rare and highly desireable laguna gray.. basically everything but air and shoulder harness and PO2's

this is probably the best project that I have seen in a long time. The guy just doesn't want to sell it to a flipper. of course it is hard in this market to choose your buyer and may not be advisable.

i think it is worth a look and if the metal is good, the right buyer will gobble it up... maybe not at 35K, but this car would be worth top price at pro-team restored.. and they would get it too...

I had almost the same car a few years ago, without all the options, totally disassembled, a shot frame, bad windshield frame needing a total restoration, a questionable stamp, parts in tubs. I sold it for more than this car was bid up to... just sit back and wait for the right buyer.

Only ProTeam Corvette would expect to get $35K for that car in that condition.

Seriously though, how about some real numbers. They are in Corvette Magazine's July issue. Even adding $8,000 for the engine and options, the car should be in at least "average" condition and I would add - taking into account the continuing decline in big block Vettes at auction - leaning towards "good." That car is decidedly in need of "TLC" and then some. Based on condition and taking into account engine and options, on paper, MAYBE $25K and again taking into account the reality of the economy $20k-$22k should be doable. A year and a half ago and I totally agree with the last two posters - definitely worth that money. And maybe a year and a half from now it goes back up. But this is the here and now and the seller chooses to sell in this economy.

The car is listed on eBay again...I guess the part about how if the car doesn't sell he will keep it for himself and be very happy is just a clever ploy.
