Interesting.

My info regarding "turn signal switch for 76 - early 79 (first design)" came from the GM Corvette parts book that went through 1982. I don't have the parts book any longer and I wasn't smart enough to copy down if it was for a tilt/tele column application when I had it.

Anyone help clarify the situation?

Thanks

Your part number Gr.2.895 #1997983 76-79 is a first design part number and is a good number. 2nd design part number is #1997984 79-82. This part number may have been superseded to another number at some point in time. Part number was found in the 1953-1982 Corvette parts manual dated 1983.
Both 1st and 2nd designs were for T/T wheel.
