I have had my 71 for 33 yrs. and some people came over to look at it to buy. Wouldn't you know it the headlights went up but not down with the headslight switch. I checked the pull switch under the steering colum and it won't do the trick either. Vac lines are all Russell braided stainless steel. I've used starting fluid to try and find the leak, if there is one. But nothing, so is ther some other trick I can use to get these to go down? Thanks guys.

You can pull down on the center link of each unit to get them to lower manually, but that doesn't solve the problem. Check the vacuum relay. Sounds like it's letting them go up, but failing on the down.
left the hood and there should be two mounts on the underside of the nose just in front of the point of the hood. Near the horns. there should be three hoses going to each of them.
This is probably the number 1 most frequently asked question on this board. Why not make a sticky out of the link to the troubleshooting guides and the diagrams posted by Willcox?
Some cars have two relays, others only one. The relay routes vacuum to the actuators. If the relay goes, headlight doors (wiper door for that matter were applicable) can refuse to open, or close, or both.
Later diagram shown; early cars have the vac supply tank on the back of the left fender skirt.
