Definately not a pace car! Someone apparently wanted to have alittle of both the anniv model and the door decals from the pace car. Can't say that I've seen one like it before. Not sure that I want to see another.

Apparently someone has straightened them out on it. At the bottom of the ad it now says they are not sure it is a pace car, but it was traded to them as one.
So, someone traded it in and said it was a Pace Car and they just pulled out the little book and looked up trade in on a Pace car.
Saw a chrome bumper car and other old stuff in the back of one picture . They ain't that stupid, they just got their lure set to reel in a big fat sucker.
I'm no numbers matching purists, I dig custom, I also recall hitting the chevy dealer when the stunning beautiful black and silver pace vette came out in 78, they allowed me to sit in it...one car I would never mod
In my mind sticking pace car decals on ANY non pace car is a kin to sticking a 427 emblem on a car with a small block, it's just cheesy tacky,
I would assume the seller either doesnt care or hopes a fool will come along
I said "while that is a very good looking '78, it is not a pace car."
He said "thank you,
please read at the add page,we have stated that we are not sure about the car,if it is a pace car or not,it was traded to our dealership the way it is.
once again thank you for pointing that to us and have a great day..........paul"
so then I said"Paul,
Just about 15 minutes of research would yield you the information to determine the fact that this is a 1978 corvette to which someone has applied a decal. If I sold you a 1978 Pontiac Firebird with that pace car decal would you advertise it as a pace car?
If you removed the decal and advertised it as a 1978 corvette I am sure you would have much better luck selling it, as it is Corvette guys look at this ad and quickly look elsewhere. I am not trying to slam you or offend, this is just one of the ways that car dealers get very bad raps on the internet."
that's 35 seconds of my life I will never get back.

That's where we all got this ad wrong
It's not meant for corvette guys. It's meant for some poor newbie dude who's saved up some money to buy his dream corvette.

You're gonna love my "one off" convertable '68 "Pace Car" then. You want extra cheese with that whine??
That said - it's not getting a 427 emblem until the 427 SBC is actually **in** there. And in my case.. there's no intent to decieve - it's just an omage to the overall C3 legacy.
