What year on the C3 did they quit making the convertibles? My dad found this ad and wanted to know if wanted him to go buy them.... of course, being site unseen, not sure what I am getting into here. 4 more months and I could go check myself!
"1975 Chevrolet CORVETTE complete rolling chassis. Good original convertible body, with good title from windshield back, plus another '75 Coupe body with good front clip. Car is NOT in running condition. NO engine, transmission, or interior, but I have many, many interior parts including seats, like-new door panels, and other interior and exterior parts. No top. Needs front and rear bumper and minor body work. An entire truckload of parts is included.
Restored '75 Convertibles like this are selling for $20,000 or more. Was asking $2500, but if someone can put $2000 CASH in my hand by the end of the week, it's theirs".
Then again, seems to be a pretty healthy project even if they were mint. Not sure I am ready for another one just yet until I get the current 3 completed.... What do you guys think, money isnt enough to get burned on either way no matter the shape the cars are in I dont think.
1975 was the last year that a C3 was available as a convertible. The cost to make a $2,000 convertible into a $20,000 convertible will far exceed $18,000. But if you enjoy the process, it may be well worth it.
I think it would be safe to say that for 2 grand, the parts and title are well worth it, if true as described.
A lot of work, if making a car, but a custom may be worth it, if you have the tools and experience etc.
