I've got 2 brand new rotors I bought for my '77 and it turns out that I'm not going to need them at the moment.
I'd like to keep them for future use since between me and my dad we have 4 C3's and sooner or later I'll need them.
What's the best method for storing them? Should they be sprayed with anything? Wrapped in paper maybe?
If you wrap them in paper and store them for an extended period, the paper will eventually draw in moisture and start rusting the rotor. The suggestion to use plastic bags was a good one. I'd even use chassis grease as a preservative. That way you know you have to degrease them before using.
I bought two US made national famous brand rotors that came factory wrapped in what was once a heavy oiled white paper in the box. I took one out to look at it and the wrapping paper was stuck to the rotor and the rotor was pretty heavily stained and rusted (the box looked ok). They had been on the shelf a while and I guess the oil impregnated in the paper had evaporated and everywhere the paper touched the rotor it had stuck to it and rusted. The parts guy went back and got me a couple of newer ones that were ok.
