I'm finally getting around to mounting my new door panels and would like to see some other 68 panels to see the screws and/or washers located at the top front and rear. That is if there are in fact supposed screws in those spots.
You'll see in the 3rd picture why I'm asking instead of just mounting them the way they were.
That 3rd pic is how a lot of them look. Try to mold your panels so you don't need the screws and then add them for correctness. Then hopefully they wont look like the 3rd pic in the future.
YES my top corner is held in with a LARGE washer also. Not orig. I'm sure but that is the way I got it and it holds pretty good. Thought I might paint it black but haven't got to that yet.

I've been using a heat gun on it trying to do just that.

Damn, he sorta messed up what otherwise looks like a new panel.
I don't see a screw at the front edge on yours either
I'd like to see the correct hardware so I can do it right. The heat gun allowed me to form these pretty close to a perfect fit and after a little more massaging I'm hopeful that they will be.
Heat gun on ABS backing and steam on fiber. ABS can be a real challenge , take your time .
Mine are ABS and thankfully they haven't been too bad to work with. I have about 1/2 hour into actual heat on the drivers door. It takes more time applying pressure while it cools.

The front edge screw is down low right on the very front (same as at the back) Would you like pics? Let me know and I will see what I can do tomorrow. (Texas holdem starting up in a few minutes at my house)

I have 4 screws on my old panels, one at each corner. The one in your picture with the washer, the two lower ones front and back that use the clips and then I have one up high towards the upper hinge that goes right through the panel sorta like the one in your picture but a smaller screw and a small chrome washer.
I don't know what's correct and I sure don't want to poke any holes that don't belong there.
DZRick:
I put in the door frame a rivet nut and put a 1/4" aelen head screw with big washer and cover it up with plastic that I found at home depot.
Its old the panel very good and not tier the panel.

Thanks Avner,
That looks better than what the factory seems to have used but I'd like to keep mine stock looking.
Where are all the 68 experts?
In your picture it looks like you do have a screw towards the top on the hinge side or am I seeing things
I heated these up and they fit pretty damn nicely now. The upper velcro fasteners will let loose after a few minutes so screws in the upper corners wouldn't have much strain on them and would hold the panel in place but__
If there isn't supposed to be screws I don't want to add them and if there is supposed to be I'd like to use the right ones.
They look like they fit nice. Good job. Personally I would not use the screws unless you are going for points. With the 68 having the pull handle in the panel does the handle have screws in it to take the pulling action of closing the doors ? I've had 68s off but I cant remember.

I haven't installed the handle on the passenger side panel yet but yes there are 2 screws that go in the recessed area above the handles. Now that you bring it up after I put those screws in I might be all set.
I think I'll do a little fine tuning with the heat gun tomorrow then put the screws to it minus the upper corners and see how it holds.
The only points I care about are point A to point B.
Okay Rick I got some pics.
This is the drivers door. You can see how the top screw is held in with the BIG washer. I'm sure that is NOT correct. The bottom one (2nd pic is a close up) is with a screw but the other end is a clip that goes into the door panel to hold it in place. The 3rd pic is of the front lower panel and that is the same as the bottom screw/clip at the bottom back. Last pic is inside the door pull showing 2 screws.
Now I'm not saying mine are correct. Just that is what they are. As I said earlier I don't think the big washer is NOT correct. I hope this helps in some way.
