So I am assuming most have been keeping up with my posts on the car I am working on. 78 or 79 C3 titled as a 77. The car has new black paint but the front bumper has some places that chipped pretty badly when I guess when it was loaded on the trailer, the paint has significantly chipped off the rear bumper and there are some other issues down low on the body that need touched up. The car has the pace car style seats that have been recovered. Since the paint needs significant touch up and most of the stuff is there, minus the front and rear spoilers, what would people think if I paid tribute to the original pace cars and turned this into a pace car replica? I could vinyl dye the interior and swap in gray carpet and use leatherique to re-stain the seats since they are newly recovered leather, but black. Opinions? Thoughts? this is not a numbers matching car anyway so I was thinking it would be cool to look at, at least. BTW, flame suit at the ready for this thread......

You stated (in other posts) that you are not the "actual owner" of the car so I would suggest you ask the "actual owner" these same questions.

That is the "person" you need the opinion from not us the "third person" in this equation.

If this was my car I would certainly admit to having obtained a questionable car. I was trying to feel out the forum before I presented this idea to my buddy is all.

I feel the pace car is best looking scheme for a Vette exterior. I see two problems doing it to THIS car.

1. It's going to get the car even more unwanted scrutiny.

2. Some will view it as a "counterfit" Pace Car. It seems to me the closer you get to "real" the more this would be. I plan to use that scheme on my '68 but with a black interior and chrome bumpers and with the fact that it's a vert - no one (sane) is going to accuse me of actually trying to "fake" a Pace Car or trying put one over on anyone. Since it seems to be a '79 car with that 77 title -it's already "putting one over" and it's a BIG one at that! I would not tempt fate.
