Friday, 7 Aug around 4:30 PM CST, three Vettes were on the west bound on ramp, exit 19, I-24 between Nashville and Clarksville, TN. Apparently a C3 rear ended another C3 while a white C4 was uninvolved. The lead C3 had significant rear damage but the middle car burned to a crisp!
OUCH!
Edit: My daughter saw the post accident and said the two C3s looked my old car which was a 71. I don't have any other details but it sure is a sad thing.

A few months ago, someone posted a news clipping of a classic Pontiac guy who got killed in a rear end collision.
Why is a rear end collision causing fire in older cars? A lot of newer cars also have the gas tank in the rear.
Just curious... Pardon my unawareness
Remember the Ford Pinto and Maverick, Chevy Vega and Corvair, AMC Gremlin and Pacer. Weren't they all suscepticle to rear end fires? Product of the times (cost savings).

On top of that, there are custom vette people who remove front and rear reinforcements to make the car light.
