Default rear bumper fit

I'm replacing urathane rear bumper on my 75 with a flex fiberglass from Toledo Pro, but I'm having trouble with the fit. The top of the bumper is about 3/4" below the deck lid when installed. Are modifications necessary? Help, I'm new at this!

They never fit right, but 3/4" is a pretty big gap. Did you remove the tail light mounting brackets?

I just put a Toledo bumper on my '74. You will need to do a lot of sanding to make it fit. I didn't and painted it first. It looks okay. However, 3/4" is way too much to try and make fit. You'll never get there. Send it back.

....my TrueFlex bumpers were "seconds" directly from TrueFlex for $322 for both shipping included four years ago. Mine fit very good, not perfect, but for a 168,000mi "driver" Corvette, they're great.

Thanks for your help guys. After removing the bumper supports I was able to get an acceptable fit. I'll have to get over the fact that it's not going to be perfect.
