After looking at some photos of what 68 NJConv 454 had done to his calipers, I knew that I needed to do the same. With the new coy wheels I bought, my hideous rusty calipers were showing through and action needed to be taken. So, I decided to paint them with rustoleum regal red with white "corvette" lettering. It took along time, but it was well worth it.
Before
After taking the rims off and doing some extreme wire brushing- arms hurt after this
After laying down 3 coats of regal red and 2 coats of black on the hubs
To paint the corvette on the caliper I downloaded the corvette font and used powerpoint to bend the lettering and got it too the right size. This took a long time to figure it all out. Then I put a layer of scotch tape down then the printed off logo, then another layer of scotch take to hold that down
Then after some painfull hours i was able to cut out the lettering with an exacto knife and peel the letters out.
Then all i did was paint a couple of layers of white and peeled the tape off. Heres the finally product and i love it.
I chose the c6 font because its more recognizable and i think it looks cooler. Also there was no c3 font to download and it would have been pain getting it to curve and all from a picture. Yeah, I was surprised how well they cleaned up too. My wire wheel is toast though.

I would say about 45 minutes a wheel, but the great part was that I had my summer reading book on my ipod so i listened to that as i did it. Killed 2 birds with one stone.
I agee, painted calipers look 100% better. I even painted mine red and they are behind factory aluminum wheels, so not nearly as noticeable, but you do still see them if you're looking. I did mine with Dupli Color caliper paint applied with a brush, and they are still holding up great after more than a year.
