Thought I would join in on this meaningless discussion that pops up with predictable regularity.
I don't give a crap what the emblems say. The production cars were obviously styled after the concept cars they are pictured with.
I tend to agree - I would not have used Stingray on the C3. I say this only with the 20/20 hindsight for how famous the C2 body became and how closely it associates with the words "Sting Ray".
I'll also note for the record, that in *both* cases the design engineers lost thier ***** IMHO and tamed down the fender eccentrics for the production cars... too bad really.
That's odd because as I understand it, the Mako Shark II was built on the chassis of the Mako Shark (1) thereby destroying it. I was of the impression that the Mako Shark was always it's name and it recieved the "1" posthumously once the Mako Shark II came to be.
Similar to your version but different details....

You're close. The XP-755 (Shark, Mako Shark or Mako Shark I) still exists. I saw it and the original Sting Ray at Bloomington Gold in June. The Mako Shark (II) was modified to build the Manta Ray. Therefore the Mako Shark (II) only exists now in pictures. Everybody confused now?
