Default water leak

This question has been asked a hundred times on this forum but when you get my age(57) it seems to take a hundred answers to sink in.I have water in the floorboard of my 76. I was told by a corvette mechanic I needed to make sure the area under the windshield wipers was resealed . I dont know exactly what he told me to reseal it with but he told me it could be rolled on like paint. Does anyone have any suggestions what to seal this area with? I have check behind the doors in the kick panels and made sure everything was cleaned out. I have also managed to get the T-Tops not to leak, however there is a lot of water getting into the floorboard area. Any help would be appreciated.

I was actually going to try pouring water from water hose into that area this weekend to see if that is the area

the best way to do this is remove the entire dash, then have someone else hit it with water while you are inside tracing the leak.

It could be coming from the windshield frame...

I agree with your mechanic. The trough below the wiper posts was sealed at the factory. The stuff dries with age and can allow water to seep in.

Note the cracked appearance of the factory sealant.

I used 3M automotive spray undercoating (rattle can) and resealed the entire area. No leaks since.

The 3M will dry to a dark brown. After it sets up, shoot some semi-flat black over it.

Thanks for the advice on the undercoating. I currently have all of the interior out to replace the floor pans. This will be the best time to check around the windshield as well as the area under the wipers.
