The passenger-side power window on my 1971 coupe is really, really slow to go up. It goes down nice and quick, but going up takes forever (10-15 sec). So I got the rebuild roller kit and took the window apart. Everything is cleaned up and the parts are replaced, but it's still pretty slow.
I'm wondering if it's the motor? If I put my hand on top of the glass as it's going up, it will stop pretty easily. I always thought that either those motors worked 100%, or not at all. Can they get weak? If so, can they be repaired?
There is a spring (round coil) in the middle of the regulator that is probably broken or not positioned properly- it helps raise the window or balances.
If you don't see it, look in bottom of door.

Yes, I've seen that spring. It's not broken. With the window all the way up, the spring is just about free of tension. I could possibly wind it one more time around, I'm just not sure if that's a good idea.
I hear you- I have been working on cars a long time & have all my fingers, etc.
The spring needs to be tightened. It is not necessay to tighten as much as the factory- it will go down a little faster & up a little slower which can help crack a window exactly where you want it.
