A group of 7 from our club did a day trip on Saturday. Most had been before and/or are members. For my wife and I it was the first time there. Very interesting.
Another larger group from the club joined in with one of the caravans earlier in the week.
Additionally, the club got its banner selected to be displayed.
Still here, leaving for Memphis tomorrow.
Had great weekend and came in with the NE caravan last wednesday.
The unveiling of Sideswipe (transformers 2) was prolly the highlight. we are going to look at it again today without any crowds.
All the tours were booked out early so we did what we wanted and joined the gutter party outside the Super 8 where we were staying at night.
Was in the nc/va/sc caravan 140 plus cars only 5 old cars and 2 of them had trouble . In a caravan if you have trouble you are on your own unless you have a good friend in the caravan because the caravan doesnt stop. If you want to stay in the worst motel you can find try the MICRO TEL chain and you will be there. My 71 made the trip with no trouble despite haveing to run 80 plus to catch up to the caravan when the Kentucky state patrol was escorting us to BG. The patrol was driving a new corvette with blue lights on it.
I drove down on Wed and back home on Sat after 5:00PM. Met up with a bunch of new friends and had a great time. I met a guy from the Netherlands that showed me a few pics of his collection. He has over 150 Corvettes. Cool to see. I ahve been to all but one Anniversary, I missed the 12th. Great weather and good people. NCM 09
I drove in with the Georgia/ East Tenn. Caravan. There were 10 cars from our club and total the caravan had from what I heard 200. I only saw 3 other C3's in the Caravan, maybe 20 total the whole weekend. One thing I would say is that I got much mroe looks than all the old just in their C5's and C6's.
We didn't sign up for any of the tours and since BG is my hometown I just showed a few of our friends around the town and to some sites.
Only had car trouble on Friday. The heater hose to the water pump blew. I cut out the bad section and got it going again. My A/C compressor was slinging oil the whole trip though.
How many of you made it to Bowling Green this past weekend & what kind of experiance did you have?
My wife and I drove the C5 (sorry not the C3) and left on Wednesday with the caravan of 140+ cars from the Carolina's and got back home on Saturday. It's an 8 hour drive from Charlotte to Bowling Green, not too bad. This is the 3rd time I've toured the assembly plant and it's great that they were working on Friday for the big event at the museum.
I did have a problem with my column lock on my C5 and could not move the car out of the hotel parking place at the hotel for a day, even after banging on the column till my hand hurt. Fortunately I met Tom Hill (plant engineer) after our plant tour on Friday who got some of his guys over to work on my car on Saturday. Great guy plus the ones that worked on my car. Many thanks to them for helping me out!
I'll post some of my pictures after I download them from the camera.
