Default C-3 Trade?

This has been asked before and I think I will ask it this time. Would any of you be interested in a trade for a 2001 BMW 330ci convertable, steel blue, gray interior, black power top, M sport suspension & wheels, with 81,000 miles. All options. I would be most interested in a 74 to 82 C-3 of equal condition. If interested PM me.

I think you would be better off selling BMW and then buying a vette.
A 2001 BMW (or anything) is still going down in value each year, while the vette is holding or going up.

Yeah, trade will be hard. You will be better of selling your BMW first.

From personal experience forget about finding a trade. SELL the BMW and go shopping with money in hand (it has much better bargaining power) and by the C3 you really want.

With all

I thought I might test the water; You never know when someone is ready for a change. I still have my 80 and am thinking of getting another. I've been collecting parts for the 80 and have plans for it.

The BMW is very nice however we are ready for a change. The sad part of the wife driving the BMW is it kicked the Vettes A$$ just as her Z4 did last year. It wont be able to for much longer.

Some sedan spanking a c3 I will still take the slow c3,

I can't get anyone to swap a "driver" c3 for my "driver" 86 c4,
Yea, you will be better off to sell the sedan and buy the sportscar with the toad pelts,

Try running the Vette against an '81 BMW. You should get a different result.

Conversely, run the '01 BMW against an '01 Vette and see what happens.

Apples to apples in terms of technology.

No dissagreement here. I have had 7 Vettes in my life so you know where my lolalty is. We just had a few low power days. Very true, apples to apples; no contest.

The BMW is a lot of fun for someone who is ready for a change and I just wanted to make the point that the change would not lack spirit.

Ok, I did it. I found a trade for the BMW and my new 78 C-3 is here. I did some searching and found that if you ask 100 girls one will say yes. I think I may have approache less than 50 Corvette owners on the idea of a trade. Some were interested and some were not. I had a few options with thoes who were interested and narrowed it to two cars. One was a black/red 1982 and the other was a red/red 1978. I also had a coulple of 78 Z-28 & 80 TA offers. With some help from my kids and the wife the red car was prefered.

This car was located in Corpus Cristi TX and we met half way in Dallas TX on Friday (10/16). I made the trip home to Wichita that night and start playing with the Vette on Saturday. I think it is a nice clean car and in much better condition than my blue 80 that has been sold localy. I will save all the parts that I have collected for the 80 for maybe the 78.

The 78 came with 2 sets of tops and I have no use for the glass tops so I will sell them.

I will post photos I took yesterday as soon as I down loard them from the camara.

I would have said the same thing about selling the car until your last post...guess it all worked out! Congrats on the new vette. Now is your wife going to be driving one of them since the BMWs gone?

No, she has taken over my Cadillac. The blue 80 is gone. I guess I will need to see if the Mods will let me change my logon from FatCat Blue 80 to maybe FatCat Red 25th or ???

Actually, if I hadn't pulled the motor out of my '76 I may have considered the trade too. I only need one vette nowadays and I need a dependable daily cruiser. Congrats!!

Thanks! With the last 7 now 8 Corvettes I have owned I have never had a 74-77. From this search for a trade I have found that the 74-77 cars are very nice and I think I mostly like the 74 to 76 as they have the early style interior.

In this economey, I think it was easier to trade for a C3 than when the economey is good. In a good econemey the Vette's bring better money. It's all relivent.

I just traded the BMW for a Corvette. I think you got it backwards. Lots will not give what a car is worth on the market.

I think you made a good trade, your Classic 30+ year old Vette looks clean and I love the Red on Red combo. IMO the BMW will depreciate (what do I really know?) and the Vette won't. Scott
