Default Weatherstripping HELP!!!

I purchased my weatherstripping kit from Willcox. It looks and fits great under a dry run. HOWEVER, here's where I need HELP or ADVICE. Installed the door weatherstripping on the passenger door first. When I close the door, it binds up in the hinge area of the door and when closed (you can close it and it latches, the back of the door sticks out a good 1/4". Even when you push on it, you cannot get it to close proper. Feels like the front (hinge side) is holding the door from closing properly.

At a loss as to what to do

Please help

Mark

New weather strip can make things tight. Try adjusting your latch and see if you can get it to pull in tighter. Mark where the striker is now so you can put it back easy if you dont like the adjustment. When I replaced striping on one of my cars in the past it was tight. I realy like the way the doors popped when released. The new striping will compress in time.

Wait.

The new weatherstrip will take a set after a couple of days. After it's been on for a while, then make possible door adjustments.

Thanks for the responses. My problem is not really with the door closing. It closes and latches. What happens is the strike does not pull the door tight to the body. I can push on the door and get the panels to line up, but I see no way to adjust the strike farther to the interior of the car to make the door close tighter.

How do you adjust the striker??? Other than front to rear, I see no way to adjust the striker to move it closer to the interior of the car, which is what i need to happen.

Any thoughts????

The new door main is holding it out. That's normal for new weatherstripping. It will compress a little in a day or two.

Loosen it a little -- only enough to move it where you want it.

Give the new weatherstrip a chance to take a set before you start making adjustments. Otherwise you'll be going back and readjusting doors again.

Mike... We'll Mike is always on top of his game and right!

Looks like a mod is working over-time too and I appreciate it!

What you describe is the latch is only catching on the first click. You might have to slam the door shut and leave it sit for a day or two. I'm again with Mike on this, you should maybe give this a try before you make striker adjustments.

If you do have problems feel free to call my staff anytime, or just send me an email direct to WillcoxCustomerService@WillcoxCorvette.c om

I’ve been a bit under the weather for a while but I’m up and running full steam now.
