Help with body spraying
I need some advice regarding painting !
I am about to sell my 1976 Corvette Stingray but prior to doing this I wish to re-spray the rear half of the body as it is a bit tatty and while I have done spraying before I am no expert and would like some basic advise on rubbing down and spraying, the advice I need is……………………………
The car has a base color and clear coat and my questions are.
1/ Should I remove the clear coat completely or can I just ‘rough it up with wet and dry or maybe just dry sand it with my ‘orbital’ sander.
2/ If so what grade of paper should I use
3/ Should I then spray with a ‘filler/primer' and sand down again, if so what grade of paper
4/ Then spray with base coat (how many coats ?)
5/ t Then spray with clear coat and sand to obtain smooth finish and if so what grade of paper
As you can see I have a rough idea but need advice.
If anyone is interested in the car and would like more details, please E Mail me at garymees@***.net, please note I live near Phoenix AZ
Thanks

detailing the repair or restoration, most use this to cover a problem area quick and cheap.
Some/Corvette buyers would prefer to see what was orginal, vs a quick color squirt.
