Shock / Strutrod mount ?
See the piece marked with blue tape......Before I beat on this I really need to know HOW it is suppose to come out. I am replacing the strut rods. Does it "gently slide out" or is it threaded through?
Big nut on the back comes off, install the removal tool and whack it with a big hammer. The holes in the strut are "D" shaped and have a spline that keeps the shock mount aligned correctly.
They do stick- a little rust and it's like it's welded in. I took mine out of the 69- used a big C-clamp to keep the arms from spreading, and still had to beat the thing to death. Soak the whole thing with your favorite penetrating oil. I'm also cheap- I put the nut back on with the flat side out.
I'll also state that my 69 has been driven one winter in it's life and very few times in the rain. It was stuck, but nowhere near as bad as my 77. I suspect it's going to be sawzall time for that one.

Thanks Tim....that's what I figured. I just wanted to be sure it wasn't threaded through that mount. I am looking for my can of PB Nutbuster Spray now !
If you beat on it too hard, you can bend or break the little "ears" it mounts through. I had really good luck with a two-jaw gear puller. It slid right out with minimal drama. I tried to beat on it with no luck, and that puller was a godsend.

Thanks....Both sides came out without breaking anything important!
I look forward to the parts arriving so I can install new shocks and new strut rods!

My Corvette Shop Manual says "reach up and pull out the shock/Strut Rod mount".
Yeah right.
It should have had a picture of Popeye with the biggest f***'n hammer ever. I wish I would have thought about the 2 jaw puller idea, that would have been better than what I did. Lucky I didn't break the ear off when I banged that sucker out of there.

Toooo Funny....That book was written before any C3s had any rust on them! Did you notice the little bottle of Nitro in the middle of my picture!
When I put mine back in, I coated everything with some good heavy duty anti seize. Hopefully, I'll never need to remove them again. If I do, with my luck, the anti seize will have functioned like an arc welder and I'll have to replace everything but the front bumper.
