Great car. Small block with over 600 hp has to be fun as hell.

Why is the 427 considered a small block by most people yet everyone considers a vette equipt with the stock 427 from the General a Big Block vette. Drive me nuts to see it labeled by some a small block and some a big block. Ok I'm done. regardless where the 600+hp comes from its a kick *** powerplant!

A "small-block 427" is a different engine than a "big-block 427", and not surprisingly, they use different size blocks. This kind of discussion could deteriorate into arguments over exactly which part number blocks are, or should be, considered "big blocks" and which aren't, but I'll leave that to the engine building experts. The point being, late '69 427s used the same "512" block (part number 3963512) that my 454 uses, and are big block engines. If I took an small block, say part number 3970010 and bored and stroked the thing until it displaced 427 cubic inches (I'm not 100% sure I can, but again, I'll leave that to the experts), then I would have a small-block 427.

The big vs small block definition just talks about the outer dimension of the blocks, where as Cubic Inches is about how much of it is bored out for the pistons.

BTW... Congratulations to the OP. You have a nice looking car.
