The eBay listing had only slightly more details than your thread. Not a surprising result.

Yeah, since it is so original, you would think the valve covers could be put back on correctly.

It would be interesting to see what reserve is for that car.

Such a car used to bring at least low-20's, but it may not be worth that much anymore.

Ebay Corvette sales rarely meet reserve, they sell outside of ebay, who would bid 25 K for that and be forced to buy it without looking at it?... EBAY does nothing but give these cars national exposure. They willl sell to a real actual interested person vs getting bid on by folks knowing that they won't meet reserve with their bid.

Default I agree.

Joe- I agree 100% Looking over completed auctions, corvettes camaro, nova ect less than 2% selling and 1% never get the money. Not many buying, wait until Barrett in Vegas next month. Did you view the line up?? Smart sellers aren't wasting the time. Mecum's got nice inventory next month, watch the prices. This is a way to get a sample of what your car is worth.

I saw a car that came off the factory production line just like mine, but black interior and top (mine is red/ white top) and I was suprised to see it fetch over $30,000 For the record it was a 300 H.P. 350 with a manual 4 speed, and I have the second top for mine! Guess that means I can safely put that much in to my car WOO!

It would with an original engine. Could you still get a 427 service block in 71? Just curious, I don't know of time spans on block availability.

even the BJ cars and the Mecum cars you only see 50% sell and meet reserve.. .
I went to Mecum Indy this year and have watched on TV.. but you do see that they don't sell either.. in these cases the reserves are sky high... most like due to the fact that the sellers and buyers commission are just killers.....

ebay is cheap if it doesnt sell, you find someone that is really interested and ask them to just wait and conclude the transaction outside of ebay and then you don't have to pay the ebay fees... except the listing fees..

of course ebay wants their sellers fees and do even provide the buyer some protection for the transaction... but I really wonder how a buyer would ever collect on a misrepresented car that was guaranteed by ebay.. I read the fine print.. so many technicalities that one could never collect unless you wanted to go against the EBAY Lawyer conglomerate..

now the BJ and Mecum cars are in really good shape and highly detailed.. so they do command higher prices.. I thought my car was pretty nice and was a 90th percentile type of car.. after going to mecum I was not so sure... so many were better than mine.. maybe it is the detailing.. so I conclude that the personal private sales outside of Mecum or BJ have the lesser detailed or quality cars.. so you gotta know what you are looking for..

I am assuming the OP is the seller...

YOU ARE BIDDING ON A 1969 CHEVROLET CORVETTE 427,4 SPEED,RIVERSIDE GOLD WITH BLACK INTERIOR,T-TOP.THE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES EXCELLANT AND LOOKS BEAUTIFULLY.AN EXCELLANT DRIVER/SHOW CLASS CAR THAT ANYONE WOULD BE PROUD TO OWN.THIS IS A VERY ORIGINAL CAR EXCEPT A 1971 CE STAMPED BLOCK.PLEASE CALL IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.
Several things here would make me pass on your auction.

Spell Check. It is incorporated into pretty much every piece of software available. Why can't someone take two seconds to figure out why there is this red dotted line under some of the words?

In case someone hasn't informed you in your time on the internet, that ALL CAPS : is annoying. Stop it. Learn to type and some basic sentence structure.

You're trying to sell what could be a decent car. If you don't pay at least a small bit of attention to your auction description, why would I have any faith in your description of the car?

it cost you nothing to list a car on ebay now unless it sells. thats why there are so many cars on there that dont sell. people who would not list it the old way with the fees are listing now because they have nothing to lose. it seems the only way to actually sell a car on ebay is to give it away.

You are preaching to the choir but keep in mind the poor sentence structure, grammar, spelling and punctuation on this forum. It's everywhere unfortunately. People present themselves as if they have a third grade education and then wonder why no one takes them seriously.
