My AIM is full of part numbers, like everyone else's I'm sure. Is there a resource to get more detail on the specific part numbers called out on the drawings? For example, if item 6 is listed as "bolt" with a part number, where can I look up that part number to determine what type of bolt, etc?
The GM Corvette Illustrated Parts Catalogue usually lists the bolt and screw sizes. You want to look for the edition following your year. As an example, if you have a '77, you want the 78 edition of the catalogue since it would have the '77 parts in it.
You can get these in hard copy or on CD in .pdf format. I have each and prefer the hard copy, but the CD is handy at times.

The biggest problem you'll have is that only a portion of the bolt sizes are listed and even then some which were superceded are listed in a longer size.
Some bolts in the parts book will reference 08.900 group which was considered "Standard" parts and listed in the GM standard parts catalog.
The next issue you'll have is part number changes. Most of the assembly manual part numbers are not listed in the parts book. You'll still love the pdf book!
We pdf'd a brand new copy of this book about 6 years ago and then ran it thru our text program which allows us to enter a part number and search the entire book. It worked good, but when we updated our acrobat to 8.0 we ran it again and now it works like a champ!
If you upload the book and it's not locked down, and if you have acrobat professional 8.0 or higher run the text OCR program on it. 7.0 will do work pretty good, but 8.0 and higher is way better!
