Default Speedometer cable

Stopped at a local parts store for a speedo cable for an '81 w/o cruise, they had an 80 inch or 120 inch. Wondering why there would be two different lengths? I hadn't seen two different sizes when looking at Eckler's or Willcox.

There are multiple cables for the 1981 cars. With cruise control you have two cables upper and lower. On cars without cruise control there are different cables for At and MT transmission.

I just replaced the cable on my 81 4-speed w/o cruise today, and the one I put in was 72" with a crimped on heat shield on the transmission end to keep it away from the exhaust. That is the same as what came out. I don't know about the AT version.

OK, its been a few days, so hopefully someone reads this. While mine does have cruise control, the transducer is bad, so I am just going to install a cable w/o cruise, so do I need the 80 or 120 inch?
