I had my '70 out Monday this week with no issues except for getting caught in a heavy rainstorm. Today I start it for the first time since then and I have a loud ticking noise in the engine and it seems to be running on 7 cylinders. I do not think it's related to my last ride, but who knows.
Where would you start to diagnose this? I checked for exhaust manifold leaks and do nt think that's where the noise is from. It sounds internal. Stuck valve?

Sounds to me like a bad plug wire & or cracked boot over the spark plug...no big deal...start it up at night take a look under the hood you will probably see the arcing the rain probably just made the problem stand out a bit more by finishing off the weak wire or boot.

Thanks, but no loose sparks in the darkness. Any other ideas?

While it's running, pull one plug off at a time. By process of elimination you'll find the bad wire or connection. This happened to me last summer and discovered a boot popped off the plug. You may want to make sure they are all dry after getting soaked.
I think I found it in the distributor cap. Sprayed it with wire dryer and blew it out. Seems to have it back to normal. I needed a new cap anyway so I'll have to get moving on that.
