Default wiper motor

Hi,
1981 C3 - the wipers are very slow to activate and move up the screen yet return to rest position quickly and easily. Wiper motor does not appear to be straining nor getting hot etc. Control arms seem free and move readily
Any ideas on the problem

Okay...I am not sure on vette but some cars the "return the wipers to rest " wire is a different hot lead than the hot lead that runs the wipers in "wipe"
This would make sense to what you are describing,
So if the "wipe" isn't getting good power it would run sluggish, my first guess is could the switch be dirty or worn or where it plugs into the switch or wiper motor be loose or dirty?

Default wiper motor

Thanks for that.
It does appear to have seperate feed to wipe and return poles but has 12 V on each feed when checked with multi meter
When i run a jumper wire direct from battery to "wipe " terminal on motor it still does he same.

You can disconnect & reconnect wiper motor.
If fast speed is fine you are probably fine.

You would think since I owned 2 81's I would remember the wiper wiring, how many speeds it has and if it has delay but I admit with all the car junk I do I don't,

So you showed us that whichever "speed" ( low ) you had your direct wire running to isn't happy,
My guess is when in "park" it runs in high speed and what you have is a bad low speed,
Would I be correct to guess that only low speed is sluggish? that high works okay?

Since you ran a wire directly to low speed from Battery that tells us that whether GM did their wiper motor with a resistor or windings on the motor that your problem is in the motor not the switch,

Perhaps someone who has torn into a wiper motor can shine more light if there is a fix but my guess is it won't be worth it and you might need a new motor unless like I am guessing only low is effected and you can live without low speed.
