While working on my new to me 1976 coupe I found a third horn mounted in the left rear adjacent to the antenna. Its connected via the standard wiring harness. Anyone else have three horns???
The only thing I am aware of that would call for a third horn is for a car alarm, but my understanding is that the horn is in one of the front fenders. A previous owner could have done it. That is all I know, sorry it's not more.

You are correct sir........
Now. Does it still work? Put your door key in that weird key lock in the left front fender & turn to the right with a door open or your hood up......... Hear anything?....
I think the alarm system is another item deleted from the car. No key switch in the fender. I'll need to get the AIM and see if the components are still in the car.

The AIM is your bible! No vette owner should be without one!

Sounds like that fender might of been replaced.............
Try this: Look inside behind the left-front fender & see if you have two loose wires doing nothing. One should be orange & the other red. These went to the switch in the fender......
I think the alarm switch was integrated into the drivers door key on a '76. Didn't know that '76s had two horns in ther front though, thought it was one only.

My black book shows that the alarm activator wasn't moved from the driver-side fender to the driver-side door lock until VIN # 7373 of the '77 model year.......
Yep, looked inside the fender and found the red & orange wires. I also can see where the key switch was glassed over. Another item to restore!! Thanks guys

I should of thought that it also could of been glassed over too....
That original switch location was a kind of a sore spot back in '76. It's ugly. Nobody liked it. And it gets alot of attention at car shows. The single most asked question I get is "what is that key lock in your front fender for"........
My 76 has two horns in the front, both for the steering wheel horn. if i remember correctly they are two different notes (not kidding, its in the manual) both in front, and, I have one in back by the antenna. The back one is for the alarm.
3 horns is stock for the 76

True. And when one quits working you get a really strange sounding horn...
Mine did this once. Lucky for me it was just the wire had fallen off....

On my 73' it's in the rear above the tag. I just tell everybody it's for the "trunk"
I can go you one better - I have four! The pair of horns that make the dual note sound when you push the horn button, a third horn mounted just under the radiator support and when I had the nose off the car, I found a fourth horn hiding up in the very front, driver's side fender
