I know there is alot of dash pads and covers out there. I would like any/everybodys comments/experiences on them, good or bad, and where they purchased them. I'm not sure which way to go at this time. I see some have speaker cutouts so you can change speakers, and some have speaker grills molded in them, how would you change speakers?.....
Don't do it... Invest the time and the money and get a new dash pad.... At leas my experience with the covers is no good.... They do not cover the whole dash.. Good luck
My 80 dash is cracked from age on the top only, the rest looks new, so I have ordered a molded plastic top cover from Coverlay. It has speaker cutouts to use the original speaker covers and wraps over to just cover the top front edge of the dash, enought to cover the cracks. $80 plus shipping. I should receive it any time. Send me a message and I will let you know how it fits. If it fits ok like I think it will, I think this is a better option than $500 for a complete reproduction.

Not sure if I have the exact same brand as you, but it sounds the same. I got mine from a friend that replaced his dash, to be honest you really have to look to see that it is a cover. I used interior dye to match the color and it looks great. It willbe a long time before I justify a new dash.
Received the Coverlay dash top cover today, it fits perfect on my 80. It covers just the top of the dash and rolls over the front edge about 1" and it has cutouts for the defrost and the 2 factory speaker grills. The only one for corvettes they have listed on their website is the one for 78 thru 82. $79.95 plus shipping.

i reskinned mine for about $45 and did it myself... i used 'whisker (or whisper) black' vynle and layed some 1/8" foam under neath to even out all the b.s.... i also cut out holes for some 4" speakers.... ill take pics if i get a chance the next time i swing to my car
If you want the original style and look,Skip all the B.S and go get a new pad,You'll be glad you did.I wished I would have done that the first time around,It would have saved me time and money. Then again it depends on what you want to spend on your Vette!
Hello Buddy1980. My 1978 is in bad need of a dash replacement or cover. Are you still satisfied with your dash cover from Coverlay? Still fit good after a few months with the elements working on it? How is the fit along the area above the gauges, glove compartment and speedometer and tach.? My car will never be a "show car", just a driver, so I can get by with some imperfections, can't really justify the $550 price tag of a completely new dash. Let me know. Thanks MGB
to "MGB". The coverlay dash for my 80 fits fine. I still have the car dissassembled, so I do not have a report on how the cover survives the sun etc. It looks like a deal for the money if you just need to cover the top of the dash.
