Default Power window please help

I have a 1978 corvette.. the passenger side only seems to want to go up if the door is cracked open.. at times though it will go up if the door is closed.. it goes down like normal door open closed ect... could this be a ground issue?? any advice as always is greatly appreciated...

Has the weatherstrip been replaced? Some of the weatherstrip currently available is quite hard (especially for the 78-82 rear of the door glass - the B-pillars), this will cause binding when raising the glass.

A weak power window motor will cause the problem you describe, also. When the door is open, the glass is free to go up and down without interference. With the door closed, the motor has to work harder to over come the resistance caused by contact with the weatherstriping.

I don't think a ground problem would cause the condition you describe.

Could also be a broken coil spring.
