Yeppers, I recall them, I have several car 8 tracks stashed away in the attic, and score tapes from garage and estate sales,
But I will run a modern touch screen CD/DVD/USB unit in this Mako build, but I like saving the old stuff from the land fills,

My dad keep talking about the under dash 45 record player his 40's custom had...

I heard of those under dash 45's, never seen one.
My 1st car was a 1966 Pontiac LeMans that had AM/FM mono, but it did have a "reverberator"

I am 33 so I don't know what is being spoken of. But I would like to know. As far as the Car in question goes. I don't dig the paint but the rest looks cool.

Reverb was basically "fake stereo" made mono sound like stereo. never really worked that well.

Default so you think your old school

What about the Muntz that would play both 4 and 8 track. The reverb I also knew all too well.

Well, I dig the car. I think it's cool.

.........and yes, I had air horns on my '73 Gran Torino squire station wagon to go with the aluminum slots in back and Crager SS's in the front. Yup, it sure did have the fake wood grain sides and snake vomit green paint job!

Bats, I'm not trying to rack up stars. I just can't give you an honest opinion on what I think a custom could be worth, so why BS you. It's all personal taste. $29k is nuts, that's for sure.......

So I thought I would just post what that Vette made me remember.......

And this is the reason we must respect all avenues of the Corvette and it's history. Fuzzy dice, crush velvet carpet, 8 Track player and all!
I mean c'mon, when I'm old, I'm hoping to sell my 69 (i.e. pass on the hobby)to some 30-40 year old for $450k($25k in today's money). LOL

I think overall the car is a neat idea, but not the route I would take with mine. I like customs in the sense that they're someone's creative expression, but because of that, they're not for everyone. I do kinda like the chrome grill on the rubber bumper car there. I would imagine that's a one-off piece, but has anyone ever produced those for sale? Looks good with the sidepipes. Seems like I've seen a nose similar to that on one of the cars here on the forum. Far as the price goes, I'd prolly say 8k-12k.

Trent Mayo,

The car appears to me to be a mix of off the shelf Ecklers junk and a bit of one -offing,

The flares are common L-88 the front are molded into the front spoiler that Ecklers sold in that era and molding them together was popular,
Ecklers also sold one piece front ends in many variations,
The nose appears to have started as a generic 73-79 style but then the peak with the sides scalloping a bit is one off,

I don't recall a full tube grill for the 73-79 front end but many other custom tube grills were sold but in this case I would say a custom off one build,

The hood is the basic super or "tall" cowl scoop and the vents on the top rear of it almost look like 68/69 side gills mounted inside out, but appear on the small side to be that,

The rear has the L-88 flares and the 6 tail lights looks too crowded for me, but always looked good on wide body cars,
The wing on the rear appears one off and is the only thing I really dislike about the car, I would rather ran the GT style rear duck tail.

But they didn't build it to please me,

I believe the price is well above what it will ever bring, due to what it needs to be brought up to what we might consider an acceptable custom for our time.

Paint and interior would make a huge difference.

Overall I like it. Looks like someone did some quality work.

And who here hasn't seen MUCH worse?

I don't understand why someone would ask for that kind of money for a car and not even bother to post pictures of the engine or undercarriage? Engine shots are a definite must-do.

Same setup in my '56 Bel Air 2-Door ... back when I was in High School. 1972.
