Default Windshield changes?

I will say it myself I feel like I am beating a way dead horse on this one
but it has a big bearing on my hunt for a donor,

I was told that c3's had different windshields 68-72 then 73-77, 78-82

Does anyone know for sure the difference between the 68-72 windshield and the 73-77 windshield,
Pictures would be great,

Does anyone know for sure if the rake or curve of the windshield changed any from the 68-72 to the 73-77?
I assume it didn't and the only thing I can scare up is the bottom edge of the windshield changed but I am not sure how.

Isn't the side glass from 68-82 the same ( coupe ) and wont t-tops from 68-82 interchange besides the latches?

I would think some of you NCRS purists would know all this jazz...

I am curious what the bottom edge of the glass looks like and hoe far does it go into the cowl/wiper bay area?

Actually, 68-early 69 side glass has a different design along the bottom and installs on a "track" differently than the late 69 + up...

when i replaced the ws on my 70 rebuild (set in place by an auto glass company), the first time i used the wipers the crank arm hit the bottom edge and cracked the glass. the glass was set into proper position, but the extension into the cowl was too long. there must be a difference.
the ws that's in my 72 is 25" from top edge to cowl extension area.

Vettebuyer5869,
Right, but the leading edge that meets the pillar is the same angle...correct?

jnb5101

Very cool..not that you broke a WS but that tells me that a later WS will not work with a wiper door car, do you believe for sure the crank arm broke it and no way the wiper door mechanism did it?

69Vett,
If you find yourself bored one day you could place the wiper door hinge on your car in the open position my guess is the shorter sides of the lower WS edge is where a wiper door mechanism would hit if a later than 72 WS was used in a 68-72 car,

I am still mostly just speculating but,
I believe that if I wanted my wiper door added to a 73-75 donor the key is I must use 68-72 WS in the car

Many thanks all, this will really save me so much time and headaches...

Yes, if you had a later car you could use the earlier window as long as you had the different "track" pieces for it to mount on.
