Did they stencil frames past 1972? I see listings for frame stencil kits for frames up to 1972 listed in several places, but don't see any past 1972.
I'm doing a frame off on my 77 and while I'm not going for a Bloomington Gold restoration... Hey I might as well put it back to original as close as I can.
I'm definately ordering the NCRS Judging Manual for 77's today.
My 78/79 devotes about 2/3 of a page to frame stencils (white to yellow and orange-yellow),different numbers for autos and manual transmissions, dates (digits separated by dash, some with dots) and grease pencil marks in green and yellow, to assist assembly line workers in placement of shims and other items.
I'm sure 77 will have their own particulars.
Good luck.
One thing they do note that drips and runs are acceptable however if present will be toward the rear. Frames were hung with their front upward to dry.
Hey Troy B.
Before you commit to the good doctor, look into paragon. They have the number stencils and even where you can just buy the printed numbers for less then 25.00 if I remember correctly. You can have paragon help you with your numbers as well. They'll need your vin number.
...Now I just need to figure out the correct dates...
The frame date will be prior to the time/build date of your '77. The frame was stenciled when it was manufactured by the A. O. Smith Company. It was then shipped to St. Louis where it was probably stockpiled prior to use. It's also possible it was rained or snowed on before it went under your Corvette because frames were often stacked outside the building.
