Another Custom on Fleabay...

I went back and forth with the seller, this is the one that had rust holes the size of a quarter

and the seller who admits to not be car savvy says his savvy vette friend told him POR would fix those holes,

At one point the seller came down to 10K, when I said that I would come "look" at it to see what the rust situation really is he reneged and said the car wasn't worth a penny less than 10K but he wouldn't take a penny less than 11K

He told me a lot of things about the car that really "spook" me that I will not mention just yet,
So last I talked to him he said if it didn't fetch 11K from CL he would just keep it, so I was surprized to see it listed on Fleabay and I have never seen this Fleabay Classified before.

When I had more interest in the car I posted this thread,
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...-tell-you.html
These are pictures of the chassis, and from the thread it would appear in general no one was very impressed, besides the fact it might be a factory BB car.
As far as the custom work goes you know I support custom but the rear end on this one just doesn't work for me, of course I was going to change the front clip and much of the rear, the rear L-88 flares would have worked but not the odd running board ground effects,
The interior is nice but the drive train has what I will just call "issues" for now.
In a way I am depressed it didn't work out on this one,
So go wild, tell me what you guys think of this one,
Yes...if it you really hate it post the puke face....lol but tell me why you hate it, not just a blanket "I hate custom"
Have a good one,

I would be scared of the bird cage rot. (That's beyond rust, my friend) ....and that's just in an area you can see. What's the rest look like?
As far as drive train goes, it's a 454. Almost literally a dime a dozen. Very fixable also. I wouldn't be too worried about the mechanicals. The under side is rusty, but not rotted. Some cleaning time and some paint and it could be ready to go again.
You know it's going to need work, but $11K is kinda high for something that needs the body disassembled to fix birdcage rot. In my honest opinion, .....if it was me,.....I wouldn't want to spend more than $8K on it.
If you want a custom, have you thought about getting a rolling shell and starting from scratch? It'll be a super cheap buy in and you won't have to worry about un-doing any rig jobs or poor work to make it safe again.
..........just a thought.

I hope I didn't give the impression I would consider paying more than 8K tops for this car if some things were different But the rust keeps me from wanting it at all,
The engine had some bad luck and without going into details I would not place much faith is how long that engine is going to be running, and why cheap 454's cost a bit more than ten cents for 12 of them, I am not as young as I was ten years ago it takes me 1/2 a day to pull and reinstall an engine now,
I have real "issues" paying for things like rust holes and questionable engines,
I guess I just posted this one to get some feedback that it isn't worth the money he wants for it.
