Default Help identifying 1980 custom front end

can anyone help me identify this front end on my 1980 corvette I just purchased. It appears to be a one piece front end and the guy i bought it from claims there was only 3 or 4 made. Any information would be helpful,Thanks

The headlight design was originally created for the "Duntov Turbo" and the body kit for them was made by ACI. Take a look at this article. http://www.vetteweb.com/features/vem...bo_prices.html However if I was going to take a guess the car you have pictured was created using a collection of aftermarket glass.

The only thing I see that "might" be rare is the hoodscoop looks to be some Daytona one off,
Do you have a bigger picture?

I don't think the hood is rare. I've seen these before. The front clip looks to be a one piece (like the Duntov car except they had a removable front bumper)
My 15 year old son bought this car today and we plan to fix it up this winter for him to drive next summer. He got 2005-09 Headlights with it and we thought that would look cool molded in but didn't want to cut up this front clip if it was something special. I don't think it is so we'll probably start cutting.
If anyone has some cheap interior and driver side mirrored t-top he needs some parts. He's paying for this himself so the cheaper the better. They don't have to be perfect. Our goal is to make it a cool looking vette on a 15 year old budget. Thanks!

The hood was commonly avail. for years & called a Daytona hood (Eckler's no. was H-964). Eckler's also had a Daytona front end kit 3 pcs. + hood. A pic. behind front tire would be needed to determine & a closer pic. of bottom of front bumper.

Mirrored T tops are expensive to buy.You could sell the one you have on E-bay for a good price, and take half of the money and buy a set of fiberglass tops.(If your on a tight buget.)
Looks like a fun project, and a great first car!

Any chance of asking the seller where the parts came from? I agree the hood is probably from Eckler's.

The guy we got it from said he bought the car in 1991 and the clip was already on it. It was originally a red car. The front clip looks to be a one piece and resembles the Duntov front clip. We are going out to work on it now and start power washing it. We'll look it over better. We plan to cut the headlights out and install 2005-2009 headlights unless someone thinks the clip is too valuable to cut up and modify (I doubt it).

You guys crack me up,

The picture is too small for me to be as sure as these other guys that the hood is just an off the self Ecklers Daytona as I mentioned before,
It looks "odd" on the passenger side top and the side vents do not appear to be the same as Ecklers,
Also several outfits made this "style" hood,
Greenwood was the first, and it was closed, the sides where not cut open with any vents and owners cut the sides out to suit them,

Here is the Greenwood style that has been cut for vents,

We happen to have the mold for the Greenwood version but it's not too popular.

Here are a couple pictures of the Ecklers Daytona version, the Ecklers had the best looking side vents,

So if your scoop matches the pictures of the Ecklers Daytona I posted then it is,
If the side vents are different or modified then it's something rare, a one off custom built, does that make it sought after or high dollar...NOPE!

The only thing I see different than stock on the front clip is the Duntov headlights and Daytona fender vents, but the odd thing is ACI had the recesses for the front side turn signal and turning lamps which yours doesn't appear to have,

Go wild customize it to please you and your son, the Duntov headlights were never popular anyway.
