Default 2 post lift questions

A freind of mine who is going thru a marrage break up offered me a twin post 7000lb Rotay lift today for 900.00

He has had it for a few years , but the unit is in excellent condition. I help him often and am familure with the unit.

Is is called an Asymmetrical style. Post are about 12' tall.

My problem is that I do not have a detached garage. I work on my car in a basement garage. There is a 25' deep concrete pad just outside the door.

I will have to install the lift outside. I have seen these outside at more than 1 service center in the area. Would need to come up with a cover for the electrical motor for rainy days. Would also use a heavy gauge 15' drop cord when in use.

I did not know a lot about these lifts or how well know Rotary is.

Any feed back on brand and outside instalation would be great.

Thanks
David

Most Rotary's are for professional use. One of the best makes.

It's a gift for that price.

Keep it covered outside when not in use.

I have a post lift. It is the absolute best way to work on a car.

I have 12 of them total in 2 shops that are 20+ years old and they go up and down all day long 6 days a week. They are top of the line and that price seems very good to me but I have not priced anything like that for a long time. Run a search on the name and model and see what they go for, but sounds pretty good. Dig a section of your basement floor down deeper and put it inside..

Sounds like a great deal on one of the best lift brands out there!I'd snap that up without thinking about it,just make sure it is single phase 220V,if it is coming from your friend's residential garage,it should be just that.

Thanks to all for the feed back. This really helps.

Sounds like something I will try to do.

I am glad that when we built the house I had a 220 outlet placed at the basement garage door. Have never used it. It is a 30amp. But I can install a 20 amp breaker and correct plug.

Thanks

I worked for a division of Rotary for over 10 years they are by far the BEST lift made. I installed my Rotary 2 post lift 6 years ago, no problems or adjustments required since then. You will need a good pad at least 6" depth to mount the lift safely to. You shoud probably "test drill" your pad to make sure it is deep enough. For $900 you cant go wrong, mew retail is over $3500 for that lift, I see them sell used at auctions for $1800-2200 all the time.

Thanks SolidLT-1

The pad is only about 4.5"

I will decide if I add a 10' wide section at 6" or cut out a section and re pour closer to the garagre door.

If I cut and re pour , I can have it 15' from the door.

If I add a section, then the lift will be 30' from the door requiring a longer drop cord.

Thanks Again
