81 Parking brake light

81 Parking brake light

Can't get the parking brake light to go out, I unplugged the white and tan wire coming from the switch but it still stays on. Any Ideas....

I am wondering if the brake fluid may be low or may have been low and the light is coming from the switch on the proportioning valve.

Pull the wire off the proportioning valve switch. If the light goes out, then you have a service brake problem as Eddie70 suggested. If it stays on, then the issue is with the PB lever switch or either of the connector wires is shorted to ground someplace.

And I thought yanking the bulb out was a better solution than black electrical tape over the brake light indicator!!

Thanks Eddie, my rear brake res was empty, now i have to find out why. Theres no fluid on the ground and I run dot 5 fluid, ill pull the tires. THANKS
