Default Seat rail problem

I am putting '80 seats in my '76 and have run into the problem of one of the seat tracks is about 3" taller and has a smaller floor mounting footprint. WTF? Was told they came outta the same car. Is there a way to slide apart the 2 rails so I can use my '76 floor mounting rail? Thanks

The tracks do not come apart. At least on their own.
In my 73, I used the 73 tracks with no problems.

I started to use my '76 rails but they are to flat and the adjustment lever wont fit. The "80 seats are tilted on their rails.

Not sure what the problem is. The 80 seats should fit by using your '76 rails. Are you sure they are '80 seats? 81-82 power driver's seat will not fit the floor pans of the older cars; no room for the motor.

I'm not sure what year my seats are but they are the same style as the '80's. They were installed by a previous owner. I took some pics so you can see what mine look like. They aren't very good because there is no room to get the camera under the seats. I hope these help.

First some pictures of the seats so you can see if they are the same as yours.

Now the rails.

These are from the driver's seat on the side closest to the door.
First the back.

Now the front.

Sorry this is a little blurry but it does show a little of what's above the rail.

Now the passenger side.

Rear on the side near the console.

Rear on the side near the door.

Front on the side near the door. I didn't get a good shot of the console side.

The grey part that the rail is mounted on does appear to be molded into the floor pan. It doesn't look like it is part of the seat mount bracket.

It looks like the rails are bolted directly to the floor pan, but, the entire length of the rail doesn't seem to sit directly on the floor pan because of the contours in the floor pan.
