Default THE PARTS THREAD ....with rules

i would like to start a thread where we can all post a picture of a parts we have bought. parts that didnt work, didn't fit correctly or didnt live up to expectations or parts that were awesome and were money well spent .instead of turning this thread into a read-athon with people commenting endlessly i think it would be good to do that in PM or emails rather then on the thread so that way when people are shopping for a new part they can skip through all the pics and see if anything of interest pops up and learn if its a good investment.

it would be good to include as much or little information as you like such as part number, where you got it, how much and what you didnt like or did like.

so just remember the only rule
- no commenting on here, just do it in a PM or email to the person who posted

i bought this part from corvette central , the window repair kit. i have heard a few people say it chews out in no time or can hurt the teeth on your actual door window motor but mine has been going strong for at least 2 years now and was easy to install. paid about $ 30

I have a current thread covering the weather strip replacement on my 70. I bought 3 different sets for the side window rears.
First from Volunteer had a very rough surface texture & were returned. Don't know who manufactured them

Next are from Metro. They are just too big. No matter how hard I tried to get them to fit properly, I couldn't get them to fit. I'm returning these.

The WS from Corvette Rubber "CRC" fit perfectly and are the closest to OEM WS.

Here's the comparison between the Metro & CRC ws's.

I bought the Windjammer (top of windshield) from Corvette Central in 2008 (#103048). I found that a C3 convertible at speed generates a lot of annoying and uncomfortable air turbulence. That unit directs airflow up and over the passenger cabin, making highway driving a much more pleasant experience. It fits perfectly and is easily removable in case a rain shower happens along and the top has to go up.

for some strange reason the product description implies that it is for coupes only?? Obviously not.

I bought a radiator frame from Ecklers last year for my '76. It has half as many spot welds joining the two stamped pieces as the original one. The edges of the stampings were sharp enough to cut my fingers. (It hadn't been deburred.) The paint finish was nothing like original - it was a thin and glossy enamel. One of the holes for the top shroud support brackets was 1/4" out.

Someone else here in the UK bought the same thing from Ecklers and reported that his was missing the welded nuts to which the shroud brackets attach. Shipping back to the US from the UK is an uneconomical option.

I had to deburr, sandblast and repaint the frame before I was happy to add it to my body-off resto project. That wasn't what I expected with a product from a big-name vendor, but I learnt my lesson and won't use that one again. I just hope it fits the car when I get to that stage.

bought this radiator from radiators.com out of brooklyn.i have an alloy radiator in my vet but this one is a 4 core copper/brass and i like that beacasue if it ever gets a leak you can braze it up and your on the road again. i bought it because i thought i had a stary current problem which eats alloy - actually i did have a stray current problem but i fixed it (bad ground) so i used this radiator in my 71 camaro which has the exact same dimensions as the vet radiator, i just had to change the lower neck to a straight neck. it keeps the 383 at 180 all day long and is not bad quality for a cheapy .. about $240 i think . the squashed bottom neck is what happened in shipping.

I'm glad to see this! This is what is causing me all my issues with adj my door glass. My glasses are binding up on the weatherstrip and I can't get anymore adjustment on them. It's easy to see the difference in the rubber parts. I just ordered new ones and hopefully fix my issues.

This thread is a great idea, and I'm glad this helps. Make sure you order the CRC ones from CRC or one of the vendors. When I spoke to CRC, they said they supply most of the vendors but make sure you confirm this when ordering them.

I like the useful tone of this thread so here is another one for early C3 (1977 and earlier) seat restorers.

Those frames are prone to corrosion and cracking, particularly at the bottom back.

Get the Willcox reinforcing plate and do due diligence with a rust primer and paint. Use this mod and that bottom frame will never crack again.
