it is hard to understand your question, can you go into greater detail what you are asking?

The engine stamp pad is located in the front of the engine, where the block protrudes from underneath the passenger side cylinder head. Take a picture and post it. It should contain two stamps, the one on the left is the engine stamp and the one on the right is the VIN derivative stamp.

Clean the pad on the block. Unless the stampings have been machined away, they will probably begin to show up. Degreaser, scotchbite pad or steel wool, elbow grease. You are looking for stampings similar to these:

The time/build code for your car is in the upper right corner of the trim tag on the driver's door hinge post. A '70 assembly in July will have an G in the code for the month. The two numbers stand for the day of the month. G01 would be July 1st. July was the last month of production for the '70 models.

The VIN code missing from your pad can be easily determined. The engine assembly date code would only be a best guess, possibly wrong by up to six months.

If yours has been machined away, why bother worrying about it?

Yes, it sounds like he knew he was buying an LS5 with a replacement block, which won't have the vin stamping.

So Pablito...just enjoy the car!

Maybe to specifically answer your question.. if your car had the original engine:

then your block casting date should be around july 1, 1970 ( plus/minus a couple of weeks)... the numbers on the left of the pad should be TXXXXCZU, where XXXX should be a month and a day code.. perhaps somewhere around 0715. the right side of the pad should be 70S417064. of course then you have specific fonts that will need to be used for each letter and number and perhaps a 'I' instead of a '1' in special cases.. don't forget the broach marks.. and don't forget the cast numbers and dates numbers on the transmission/heads/intake/carb/exhaust need to be pretty close to that also..

Your car was built in the final 2 days of corvette production in 1970...

Fixed it for you. As stated earlier, the variations in engine ***'y casting and date can be up to six months.

The one in the pic is also a small block. Very different stamp pad config.

Do you plan on re-stamping your pad?
