Default T-top conundrum

One of my project 1977 t-tops is red, the other brown... obviously not from the same car. There are no headliners in the car, but the original center pad is in place. My question is twofold... How can I determine whether I need early or late (or both) weatherstrips, and what year headliners are most likely to fit these things? I am confused.:o

Thank you 71coupe. Now for part two... Corvette Central lists 1976L and 1977 as the "correct" liners... will other years work even if not original? Thanks again!

you count the mounting pins to match up the weather strip.....are you tall? if so since you are not to far into these yet you may want to go to the 78 and up t tops they have more room since they only have 1 release lever instead of two.....and you will remember this email every time you turn left and hit your head on the earlier t tops

I stand 5'8". I haven't any seat upholstery yet so I still fit OK... will be careful when I sit in it after seats are complete. Thanks for the input!

The difference between the so called early and late 77 t-tops is pretty easy to tell. The early tops have 2 release handles per top, the late tops have a single handle in the front of the top and a pin that comes out of the rear of the top and goes into a retainer in the body. The early weatherstrip is just rubber, where as the late has metal molded into one side of it. If by some chance you got a 68-69 early top, you can tell these also by the weatherstrip, which is made up of two pieces, unlike the 69-77 and 77 late to 82 weatherstrips, which are molded in one piece.

The 68-77 headliners only differ in the area of the sunvisor. As the size and shape of the sunvisor was changed over the years, the indent in the headliner was changed to match the shape of the visor. The 78-82 headliners won't work on a 68-77 top. The 78-82 headliner only has cut outs for the front latches, not for the rear ones.
