Default '76 rear window: date code/markings. Pics pls.

I need a new rear window glass for my '76. Paragon sells two versions: one with the correct date code and LOF logo for $242 and an alternative (presumably without any markings) for $142.

Can anybody show me what the difference is please? What did the original markings look like?

The correct one will have the old style LOF logo, an outlined box with the LOF diagonally in the box. If your car has it's original glass, the LOF logo will be the same on the doors and windshield. The replacement glass could have a Surelite, PPG or modern LOF (a solid box with LOF reversed out in the box) logo.

The dating consided of 2 letters, one for the month and one for the year (ex: NC would be N = January & C = 1967).

Thanks gbvette62. How big and noticeable are these markings? I guess they're pretty small?

Glad to see you're still here Ben. Unless you're going for NCRS judging, forget the tarted up version with the markings. Save the $100 to buy me a pint next time I'm over your way.

My car's not NCRS but I'm going for an original look where I can justify it. None of the other glass has the original markings though, so I think I can predict where my spare $100 will be going.

(PS. There will always be a beer in England with your name on it, Mike. )

For what its worth you can go to your local glass shop and order a 3/16th thick piece of tempered glass or laminated for about 35 to 40 dollars in the size you require.

Looks like it's me that owes you a pint(s) Ben. I have been collecting Ward's brewery paraphernalia for several years being told that the trade name had been dropped and the brewery long defunct. I also collect stuff from the Ward brewery in NZ.

My other 'big' hobby is running a half barrel sized home brewery and my home bar (presently five modern-style taps and one traditional hand pump) is decorated with all sorts of older signs, ashtrays, bar towels, pump fonts etc etc.

I had no idea that the UK beer was still being produced! Thanks.
