Have you tried to adjust the adjuster bolts in the lower portion of the seat back? Could be that they are in too far or are bent or the bumper in the seat bottom is worn. You can buy new adjustment hardware form Corvette Central, Mid America, or several other Corvette parts suppliers.

John,

I'm confused. The seats in the 1970-1978 cars had a habit of bending or rusting at the rear of the frame which would allow the seat to lean backwards. But your profile and name indicates the car is a 79.

This seat and frame is a fiberglass bucket with two lower seat adjusters on it. About the only thing that can go wrong with this type of seat is a hinge problem, and/or a seat bottom adjuster let rusted or broken.

Do your seats look like this?
