Default Heater core replacement

I have a 71 vette with A/C that I want to replace the heater core while I have it down for a new engine and some suspension work. How do I get to the heater core from the firewall side? It looks like the A/C unit is covering the area I need to get to. By the way, I have removed all of the A/C components except for the drier unit which is what I think is covering the heater core area on the firewall.

Thanks,

Police Copter

I read where Chevy put the heater core on the assembly line first and then built the car around it.
